Diapers and Baby Care – Can They Get Along?

Diapers and Baby Care – Can They Get Along?

August 30, 2022

Is it really safe to use diapers for your baby? Or should one go with nappies? This has been a concern for mothers since time immemorial. The tussle between modern innovations and traditional choices is ever increasing. In such cases of uncertainty, a simple google search should quite frankly do the trick. After all, we believe a google search is what brought you here. 🙂

Some diapers are especially made to be worn by newborn babies and are even considered completely safe. If you have run into problems using baby diapers before, chances are you might have done something completely upside down. Here are a few tips on using baby diapers correctly for proper baby care.

  • Diaper changes – A newborn baby can use more than 10 diapers in a single day! The number decreases as they get older. Make sure you are changing diapers immediately after they have been pooped in or after your baby has peed in them twice. This can go a long way in helping prevent rashes, bacteria and infections.
  • Wiping – Whenever you give your little one a diaper change, make sure you are also wiping down the diaper area with a wet wipe. Sometimes, the poop or pee remains stuck to your baby’s bottom and causes trouble later.
  • Air it out – Airing out the diaper area at frequent intervals can help release trapped moisture. Let your baby’s skin air dry after every diaper change.
  • Creams and lotions – Put diaper rash creams or gentle lotions to your baby’s bum during diaper changes. This is an additional precaution to prevent rashes.

Watch out for these things in baby diapers

  • Sodium Polyacrylate is found in most absorbent products including sanitary pads, tampons and newborn products. This on its own doesn’t create issues. Acrylic acid that is sometimes mixed with Sodium Polyacrylate can cause irritation in some children.
  • Most dyes are safe for the skin, but some have been blamed for causing rashes in babies in the past.
  • Volatile Organic Compounds in diapers such as toluene and xylene may emit compounds that can cause irritation to your baby’s soft skin.

Diapers provide an easy and convenient solution to your babies’ round-the-clock pooping and peeing. Sometimes, diaper rashes could be a result of the rough top sheet of baby diapers. If you find this to be the case, consider switching to a better baby care brand such as Snuggy. Snuggy baby diapers are:

  • Enhanced with super-absorb core that quickly soaks liquids and saves your baby from irritating wetness and moisture.
  • Super-soft
  • Ultra-stretch waistband that makes for a comfortable, snug wearing-experience for your baby.
